SUMMARY:Take action: Volunteer to Phone Bank today!
DESCRIPTION:Sign up for a phone banking shift today! We are making calls at our office Tuesdays and Thursdays now through election day. All callers will be socially distanced and participants must be fully vaccinated to participate. Snacks and drinks will be provided. \nWhat is at stake in this school board election? Some on the school board candidates want to turn over some Achieve 180 schools to charter schools\, make all teachers reapply for their jobs and implement a churn and burn mindset to staff and students. \nThis year\, there are many candidates for school board want Gov. Abbott to take over all HISD schools to fast track the growth of charter schools in every zip code.  The facts prove that state takeovers do not lead to academic progress and take away the voice of voters and families. \nLet’s re-elect former HFT members Elizabeth Santos and Anne Sung and help all our endorsed candidates to win.\n\nThey have led the call for increased pay raises and a living wage for paraprofessionals.\nThey have led the charge against more high-stakes testing. Instead\, they want more wraparound services offered in every school.\nThey have stood with us to demand we have a voice in district decision making.\n\nMake a plan to early vote for HFT endorsed candidates: October 18th – October 29th. Click here for early vote locations. \nSign up for a phone banking shift today! We are making calls at our office Tuesdays and Thursdays now through election day. All callers will be socially distanced and participants must be fully vaccinated to participate. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
