What is at stake in this school board election? Some on the school board candidates want to turn over some Achieve 180 schools to charter schools, make all teachers reapply for their jobs and implement a churn and burn mindset to staff and students.

This year, there are many candidates for school board want Gov. Abbott to take over all HISD schools to fast track the growth of charter schools in every zip code.  The facts prove that state takeovers do not lead to academic progress and take away the voice of voters and families.

Let’s re-elect former HFT members Elizabeth Santos and Anne Sung and help all our endorsed candidates to win.

• They have led the call for increased pay raises and a living wage for paraprofessionals.
